November  29, 2011, Beijing -  Mr. Juan Somavia, Director General of the ILO found time in his very busy China schedule to greet the CP TING staff. The Director General discussed issues such as the current situation of the global economy and the need for all nations to place as a priority the creation of decent employment especially for the youth. Mr. Somavia commented on the many changes which have taken place over the 14 year career with the ILO as  Director-General. China and other regional countries are now among the leading nations at high level meetings such as the G-20. The DG stated that “China’s development strategy and plan is an effective model to steadily improve social and economic conditions within a sustainable economic environment”.
