2. The Labour Migration Practices and Outcomes of China’s Young Female Migrants |
The document provides a summary of research results from CP-TING’s five pilot provinces: Anhui, Guangdong, Henan, Hunan, and Jiangsu. A qualitative survey examined the labour migration process from the perspective of girls and young women, while a quantitative survey sought to estimate the extent to which young female migrants are at risk of trafficking. These surveys addressed two key research gaps by collecting sex and age disaggregated data for 10-24 year old girls and young women, and the perspectives and perceptions of these migrants and potential migrants. |

3. Migrant Recruitment Practices in China (CASS) Findings from Survey
|
The study reviews the evolution of migration policies and assesses recruitment activities through a sampling survey and interviews. It identifies the issues and challenges in the process of migration, and provides valuable information for policymaking in the facilitation of transferring rural surplus labor. The study looks at migration from sending to receiving provinces, with an emphasis on girls and young women. In-depth qualitative interviews are held with rural migrants, local officials, recruitment agencies and employers. The surveys focus on three high-risk industries including manufacturing, sales and catering, social services (including entertainment industry). The study also selects project and non-project sites in Anhui and Jiangsu to look at the differences in knowledge of the target group relating to safe migration, as well as availability of services. |

1. Middle School Life-skills Teacher’s Manual |
This handbook is one of the resources to assist teachers in conducting the life skills training programme aimed at junior high school students in China’s rural areas. Commissioned by the ILO CP-TING project, this programme is being piloted in the provinces of Hunan, Henan and Anhui, with a view for wider replication. Life skills aims to promote gender equality, safe migration for decent work, and awareness about the risks of HIV/AIDS and drug abuse. The contents of the programme are based on the personal and social challenges young people face in their day-to-day lives. In addition, life skills covers concepts such as self-awareness, managing finances,making friends, legal awareness, problem-solving, children’s rights and gender equality. |
